Plastics machinery shipments up 13.5% in Q1 in North America

North AmericaMachine makers experienced a 13.5 per cent year-on-year rise in shipments during the first quarter of 2016. Between January and March, $330.5 million (€293 million, £233.3 million) was reported, which was well above the $291.2 million recorded for 2015’s Q1, but 15.4 per cent less than the £390.6 million recorded from Q4 of 2015 which is typically the strongest quarter of the year. Experts are also feeling optimistic about the future. 84 per cent of CES respondents reported that they anticipate market conditions to either hold at the level they are at or to improve in the coming 12 months, with North America and Mexico anticipating the strongest growth.
